VC Deal Team Photo – 10am Saturday 30th August

George Hammond PLC has been a great supporter and proud long-standing sponsor of VC Deal.
Their BP petrol station at London Road, Deal (next to the Police Station) has been impressively redeveloped, and prior to the official public opening, all VC Deal members wearing their club kit (and preferably with bikes) are cordially invited to the opening celebrations on Saturday 30th August at 10.00am.
Publicity photographs celebrating the association between VC Deal and Hammonds will be the main focus, followed by teas and Costa coffee along with other refreshments provided by the new bakery.

Arron Harris will be meeting at Fowlmead at 09.15am to leave at 09.30am prompt and ride to the garage by way of Southwall Road. Alternatively, make your own way to meet at the garage at 10.00am. Admission by club kit only!

All members are encouraged to attend and are requested to confirm their attendance to Ian Ferrell or Arron prior to the day so we can provide some idea of numbers. Thank-you.

Team photos, free Tea and a group ride afterwards, sounds like a good Saturday morning’s activity…
Hammonds do an awful lot for the club, most of it unseen, please come along to help us say thank you!

Sunday Club Run goes to France – 27th July.

Ben Hayes is organising a minor detour to the Sunday club run route on Sunday 27th July.
The plan is to go to France on the bikes and ride a hilly-ish 74 mile route round the lanes behind the Caps.
Meet at the port at 7:30, retuurn to Dover at 20:30. Cost should be just £12 + lunch etc.
I did this last year and it’s a nice ride, a route you’d never find on your own…

A map of the route is here: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10204167797144101&set=o.267754583272784&type=1&relevant_count=1

Ronde Van Oost Kent Super Club Run – Sunday 6th April

Rob Kingsland has organised a superb sportive for everyone who is not going to be in Flanders on Sunday for the real Ronde. No pave, but the best of East Kent’s evil hills in a 120km loop. The course will be marked, the tea will be hot and the company convivial. It’s like a club ride only longer and hellingen-ier….

All welcome. Spread the word.

Saturday 15th March 7pm – Prize-giving/Quiz Night

The annual Prize-giving night will be combined with a quiz night this year.

Ian has invited  National Champion and International Cyclocross star Ian Field to attend.

The quiz will be general knowledge, with a cycling theme, so you won’t have to be a full-on bike nut to have a chance.

It’s not just for members! Friends of the club are very welcome, so if you can make up a table of 8-10 people, please book one with Ian or Arron, as it got pretty full last time…

There will be a best “retro cycling jersey” competition (yes, you have to prove it still fits), raffles & so on.

Nibbles will be provided, but bring your own food, drink and glasses etc.

The cost will be £2 for adults @ 50p for under 18s.

Contact IanFerrell@sky.com or harris7273@sky.com to make bookings.

Cyclocross Racing Sunday 19th Jan at Fowlmead

A good days racing was had by all those who made the trip to Fowlmead on Sunday. What was a “fairly dry considering” course was turned into a swamp of surface water by heavy overnight rain. But the course remained very ridable, due to the firm undersurface provided by the artificial geology of Fowlmead…

Note: We are aware of a few issues with the U21s result – we are waiting for all appeals to come in before we announce a final result. Thanks for your patience.

Thanks to all the helpers.
